In some circumstances, it may be helpful to "take a picture" of the current screen contents - you may want to keep record of complex configuration settings, capture a film scene, etc. What few users know is that Mac OS X has a special feature specific designed for that. All you need is to press the following key combinations: - Command (apple) + Shift + 3: captures the whole screen and automatically save it in a PNG file in the desktop. - Command apple) + Shift + 4: shows a "target" shaped cursor, so you can select a retangular area by clicking and dragging with your mouse. This area will be captured and saved as a PNG file in the desktop. You may also press the spacebar to change the target cursor into a "camera" cursor, so you can place it over a window and left-click to capture the window contents. Whatever the approach you choose, don't worry if you need to repeat it many times, 'cause the names of the PNG files will be automatically incremented. |
